BASIC BEADING       $30.00

Instructor: Linda Sweeney or Billie Jacobs

Learn basics of bead stringing, crimping and design.  Use materials you select from your personal stash or from the Museum Store. 
Design and finish a necklace, earrings, or bracelet to wear home.

Learn to make a basic ring with a bead to wear home.  An additional variation will be taught, so bring extra beads and enough wire to make 3 or 4 rings.

Learn basic wire skills. Combine decorative elements with beads to make a beautiful necklace.  Finish this piece with a unique hook and eye.

Wrap a cabochon with square wire to create a stunning pendant.  Some experience with wire is helpful.  Bring chain and round nose pliers and cutter.

A good project for the new off-loom bead weaver.  Using seed beads and fire-polished crystals you will create a rope that can be worn many ways.  We will discuss the many sizes and shapes of seed beads and the various choices of materials.

Add a dose of color to your wardrobe with brightly hued enamel pendant. Learn to use the combined power of metal clay, enamel, and heat to replicate the metalworking technique of cloisonné.

ETERNITY LINK BRACELET CLASS with PMC

This is a piece of art that you wear. The chunky silver links will be textured by your custom made stamp and then assembled to create a never ending link bracelet. If time permits we can also add stones for that extra bling factor.

Let me introduce you to the Japanese technique with a gentle project.  This weave is so versatile you can build it into anything or just make them in a string for a beautiful addition to your collection.  We will be working with multiple sizes, types of metals and colors.

POLYMER CLAY: Turtle Class

Turtles!!!  You gotta love those sweet faces, and they are a symbol for good luck. We will learn how to make some basic color blends and construct these guys piece by piece. Portions of the proceeds from this class go to benefit the Leatherback Turtle Foundation.  They are one of the oldest animals on the planet and in 20 years they will be gone.

This class will show you how to create a wonderful functional piece, be it a pencil holder, business card holder, salt n pepper shaker.  That’s half the fun.  We will be sculpting this into a work of art.

One of my all time favorite flowers, Roses.  Big one, little ones and lots of ways to work them into your work.  We’ll even make some earrings that you can wear immediately.  Because these are so small and delicate, we will try to bake them in class.  Otherwise you will need to bring a small box to transport your treasures home.

CHAIN MAIL EARRING

This class will use a number of techniques and it is helpful if you have a beginning understanding of the chain mail process.  We will make multiple earrings based on the box, Byzantine, flourette, harlequin, and parallel weaves.

POLYMER CLAY: Christmas Ornament

Not your typical cane type decorations.  We will make some fabulous ornaments using the sculpting techniques.  Spirals to make snowflakes, leaves to create a framed winter wonderland.  Roses or other flowers.  It will be sort of a free flowing based on student requests.

Start with a basic peyote bracelet then let your imagination run wild as Billie shows you how to add on and elaborate. Some experience with peyote stitch is required.

What is taught in the open workshop?

Lana May teaches easy to advanced bead weaving. You can start by doing rings, necklaces, earrings, purses, bouquets, toys; it depends on you.  In the course of the class, Lana can show you not only the American beading techniques but Russian, Indian, and Egyptian as well.  Come and work for an hour or two or spend the whole day!

What can you make?

Choose a sample from Lana’s works, and she will give you the pattern and explain it in detail OR just bring your beads and she will help design a project that fits your personality!
