Trajectories will explore the evolution of contemporary glass beadmaking, showcasing both early and recent work of significant artists. The exhibition is jointly hosted by the International Society of Glass Beadmakers and The Bead Museum. To commemorate The Bead Museum's 20th Anniversary and it's catalyzing role in the formation of the ISGB, the organizations are building upon their historical relationship to mount an exhibition that explores the creative and technological advances in this art form since the early work of the founding members of ISGB.
Trajectories will open at The Bead Museum in Glendale on September 15, 2006. Following its close on March 16, 2007, the exhibit will travel to selected locations across the US. Exact locations and dates will be announced.
This exhibition will show the diversity of this art form, representing artists who have a significant history with the glass art bead movement who create beads by all methods including lampwork, sculptural lampwork, furnace work and kiln formed.

Jury
This distinguished jury panel includes,
Gabrielle Liese, Jutta-Annette Page, Stevi Belle, Jim Kervin, and Christy Puetz.
The artists' description of the bead, techniques and materials used will accompany each entry to assist in the jury process. All work must be a bead of original design. To be classified a bead; a hole must go all the way through the piece. Jewelry will not be considered.
Catalogue and Postcards
Accepted artists will be featured in the exhibition catalogue. Participating artists will receive one complimentary catalog. Participating artists may pre-order additional catalogues at a discount of $5 off the cover price of US $20. The discount is available only for pre-publication orders which may be placed when artists are notified of their acceptance into the show. Commissions and royalties do not apply to catalogue sales.
Exhibition Postcards will be available for purchase by participating artists. Pre-orders for postcards will be available upon notification of acceptance.

Images may be submitted via email as attachments or via CD-ROM disc.
Entry Form Complete entry form in its entirety and attach it to your email. Include your phone number and email address. If sending a CD-ROM disc include the entry form and artist statement as separate saved files on the CD.
Images Include images of 3 works - 2 views per work may be included for a total maximum of 6 images. You may submit both current and older work.
Submit email image files to: csaker@beadmuseumaz.org. JPEGs submitted by email must be Best Quality (12), 300 dpi.
Include accurate labeling in image titles. Images should be marked with your name, medium, approximate year of creation and title.
For those with limited email capabilities a CD-Rom disc of the images noted above can be mailed with your entry form to: Carol Saker, The Bead Museum, 5754 W. Glenn Drive, Glendale, AZ 85301 to be postmarked no later than October 1st.
Artists will be notified of their acceptance by email. All digital files submitted by accepted artists will become the property of ISGB and The Bead Museum.
Artist Statement A separate text document should be attached with your name, title of work(s), medium, size and numbers that correspond to the entry form. Include an artist statement of 50 words or less to be referenced for catalogue copy. Briefly describe your beads, citing technique, inspiration, etc.
Entry Fee A $20.00 non-refundable entry fee must be included with your submission. MasterCard & Visa are accepted. International entry fees must be paid by credit card and are in US dollars.

Trajectories FAQ
1.HOW WILL MY WORK BE PROMOTED? Works accepted for the show will also be exhibited in a four color photographic catalogue with accompanying text/artist statement. Some works will be included on show promotional materials such as flyers, postcards and websites. The show will also be promoted to art venues both nationally and internationally by the ISGB and The Bead Museum.
2.DO I NEED TO BE A MEMBER OF THE ISGB OR THE BEAD MUSEUM? It is not required that submitting artists be a member of either the ISGB or The Bead Museum. However, membership is encouraged. Go to www.isgb.org or www.beadmuseumaz.org/membership.asp to download an application form today.
3.SHOULD I BE SUBMITTING WORK THAT IS OLD (FROM THE EARLY 1990s WHEN THE BEAD MOVEMENT FIRST STARTED) AND NEW WORK ? Artists are encouraged to submit work that is in line with “new directions” in beadmaking, as the title Trajectories implies. i.e. new techniques, processes, forms, materials and concepts that help illustrate the next stage in the evolution of the art of glass beadmaking. The museum has many historical works by the early artists that will be displayed as part of the exhibition.
4.DO MY ENTRY PHOTOS NEED TO BE OF THE EXACT SAME WORK I WOULD SUBMIT FOR THE SHOW ? The work in the entry photos does not have to be the exact physical piece that will be submitted, but it must be extremely close in every way to the bead that will be delivered if accepted. Works that are significantly different than the juried entry photo will not be accepted for the show.
5.DO I HAVE TO BE AN ESTABLISHED AND/OR RECOGNIZED BEAD ARTIST TO PARTICIPATE? Artists are not required to have a history with the glass beadmaking movement. While we are inviting the established artists to participate, new artists are also encouraged to send in submissions.
6.CAN I SEND IN FORMS OF PAYMENT OTHER THAN A CREDIT CARD? Payment may be made by credit card, check, cashier’s check or money order made out to The Bead Museum with “Trajectories entry fee” noted in the memo line. International entries must pay by credit card. Credit card information may be phoned in to the museum at (623) 931-2737 through Carol Saker Monday thru Thursday 10 a.m. – 5 p.m U.S. Mountain Standard Time.
7.CAN A SINGLE WORK BE COMPOSED OF MORE THAN ONE BEAD? Single works composed of multiple beads (a bead composed of several separate sections, a toggle set composed of a ring bead and a bar bead, a triptych, or interlocking beads in “puzzle” form, for example) are acceptable as long as they are not finished jewelry.
8.DOES MY ENTRY HAVE TO ARRIVE AT THE MUSEUM ON OCTOBER 1ST? Entries postmarked by October 1st, 2005 will be accepted.
9.WHAT IF i ONLY HAVE SLIDES AND NOT DIGITAL IMAGES? All jurying will be handled electronically. Therefore slides will not be accepted. Most photo finishers can transfer your slides to a CD-rom or electronic file for a nominal charge.
10.IS THE $20.00 FEE PER EACH WORK ENTERED? No, the $20.00 fee is the total whether you enter one, two or three works.
11.Are we required to enter three works? You may enter one, two or three.
